The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) led an on-site meeting with Ateneo de Davao University and Davao del Norte State College in preparation for the next Call for Proposals for the Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) Program.
Supervised by Research Information and Technology Transfer Division (RITTD) Chief, Ms. Russel Pili, DOST-PCIEERD and the said institutions discussed concerns and areas of improvement to run, operate, and sustain the business incubators in their respective institutions.
The HEIRIT program is designed to capacitate and assist HEIs in meeting the requirements of DOST-PCIEERD for funding and train the HEI managers to run their own incubators to boost the growing demand for early-stage entrepreneurial support.
The onsite meeting is expected to encourage more HEIs to establish their own technology business incubators. The expansion of University-operated incubators will help provide services and technologies that could potentially help address society’s needs and challenges and is expected to increase the workforce in the country.
DOST-PCIEERD announced that the next Call for Proposals will be on February 2023.
