The Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI), through the Provincial Science and Technology Office in Davao del Sur, and the Cor Jesu College conducted a ‘Grand Community Engagement’ in Barangay Saliducon, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur as part of the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program.
The activity is the culmination of the series of technology trainings conducted in the community since February that equipped participants with essential skills and knowledge.
The community engagement covered a range of valuable topics for various organizations in the community. The trainings include Financial Education, Entrepreneurship Empowerment for the agkahiusang Kababayin-an sa Saliducon (NAKABSA) and Overseas Filipino Worker groups, Training on Teaching Strategies for Reading and Numeracy, Material Development, Blended Learning, Bibliography and Library Organizing for the teachers of Sta. Cruz South district, Parliamentary Procedure, Katarungang Pambarangay, and Local Budgeting Training for the BLGU of Saliducon and a series of Reading and Numeracy Training sessions for the students of Saliducon Elementary School.
Davao del Sur PSTO Director Leslie Cancio said that the event highlights the transformative power of technology education in empowering individuals and communities alike and it also emphasizes the significance of partnership and community engagement in promoting sustainable development and growth.
Implemented through the CEST project, these activities aim to empower individuals and foster a culture of learning and innovation to contribute to the development of a more prosperous and dynamic society.
