The Department of Science and Technology- Science and Technology and Information Institute (DOST-STII) has conferred a plaque of appreciation to the DOST XI Provincial S&T Office (PSTO) in Davao del Sur for successfully deploying and installing Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS or STARBOOKS across public schools in the province. 

Out of 307 schools in the Davao del Sur province, 91 public schools have been provided with STARBOOKS since its initial distribution in 2011. 

STARBOOKS is a digital library containing various S&T information for academic and livelihood use. It is the first digital library in the Philippines that is available both offline and online. 

The recognition was given during the 11th Deployment Officers Assembly at the Greenleaf Hotel in General Santos City where over 100 deployment officers joined to recognize various initiatives that bring Science closer to the people through the STARBOOKS.

The PSTO Davao del Sur is one of the three provincial offices of DOST in the country which received the said recognition.
