The workshop is an event of the Asian and Pacific Center for Transfer of Technology of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (APCTT-UNESCAP) to strengthen the existing capacities of the member countries by identifying and assessing the potential renewable energy resources, with particular focus on solar and wind energy resources. The workshop is very important specially stakeholders in Mindanao Region where some of the Renewable Energy projects are implemented.

The team leader, Engr. Arwin Ardon of the Davao Region Energy Audit and Management Team (DREAM Team) attending the Regional Consultation in Mindanao for the 12th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Energy Ministers’ Meeting on March 2, 2015 at Park Inn, Davao City. The event is organized to engage regional stakeholders to discuss the themes and see how these can promote the common interest and welfare of the APEC member economies towards energy resilient APEC community.

The themes discussed were climate-proofing energy infrastructure; promoting cutting-edge energy efficient technology; advocating community-based clean energy use in energy poverty stricken areas; and improving energy trade and investment through energy market integration.

Some of the questions raised in the forum were the transfer of cost on systems loss from distribution utilities to the consumers. The participants from the Department of Energy assured that the discussions were noted and will be included in the upcoming 12thEnergy Ministers’ Meeting in Cebu City.
