The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) and the Davao Food Safety ThinkTank Inc (DFST) successfully concluded the three-part webinar series on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
In line with the objectives of the food safety project, the activity sought to help promote food safety awareness and vigilance in Davao Region especially with the current threats of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as assist Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Food Business Operators to be compliant to food safety systems.
The webinar was divided into three sessions discussing three topics namely Introduction to GMP and Importance of Personal Hygiene (August 27, 2020), Food Safety Hazards and Raw Materials (August 28, 2020) and Cleaning and Sanitation and Pest Control in the Food Industry (September 1, 2020). DOST XI’s Science Research Specialists and Food Safety Experts, Ms. Leselle I. Abatol, Ms. Marielle Aimee A. Malinao, and Ms. April Rose S. Aguilos served as the resource speakers for the said webinars which were held through Zoom.
50 participants were accommodated each session, most of them coming from the food industry/businesses and government agencies.
