Davao Occidental- After a series of consultative meetings and revisions, the Davao Occidental Research for Development Agenda (DORDA) for 2020-2025 was already finalized and turned over to the Provincial Local Government of Davao Occidental on December 11, 2020 at the VIP Room of the Malita Gym, Davao Occidental. The province was the first in the Davao Region to craft its Research for Development (R4D) Agenda addressing the gaps and problems in the province.

The DORDA 2020-2025 launching and turnover was attended by the representatives and officials of the PLGU and the stakeholders. Governor Claude P. Bautista was represented by his executive assistant, Ms. Marivic Hubac together with Ms. Ma. Theresa Ypil of the PPDO, and SPAMAST President, Dr. Ruth Lucero received the Research for Development Agenda during turnover ceremonies.  The activity was witnessed and participated in by the stakeholders who joined virtually via zoom.

The Research for Development (R4D) agenda sets and harmonizes the R4D concerns with the development goals and objectives of the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU). It focuses mainly on those that will have positive impact on poverty reduction, upscaling the local economy, enhancement/management of the environment and increasing social protection as well as human security. Salient research projects will be evaluated for possible funding for DOST or be co-funded with other sectors.

Research for Development (R4D) paves the way in introducing new knowledge, idea, and/or technology in the fields of agriculture, health, industry, energy, disaster mitigation and management, manufacturing, information, and technology. It is a vital element in project planning and implementation, effective technology transfer, and commercialization.

DORDA was created through the initiatives and efforts of many including DOST XI Regional Director, Dr. Anthony C. Sales; SPAMAST Research Director then, Dr. Della Grace Bacatos; PLGU-Davao Occidental represented by its PEIPO Chief, Ms. Givel Mamaril and its Planning Unit Head, yours truly (Ms. Ma. Theresa Ypil); and the staff of the Provincial Science and Technology Center of Davao Occidental.
