DAVAO DEL NORTE – Project proposals from three (3) micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Tagum City, New Corella, and Carmen, Davao del Norte were evaluated last June 25 and 28, 2021 by the Provincial Science and Technology Center – Davao del Norte (PSTCDN) together with members of the Review and Technical Evaluation Committee (RTEC). The said evaluation was done to assess the viability of the enterprise for funding under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).
To abide by the existing health and safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, the said evaluation was done in two phases: (1) virtual paper review last June 25, 2021 and (2) site visit last June 28, 2021. During the paper review, the entrepreneurs namely RCG LPG Station, Hery Cylinder Repair, and Weekend Farmers Corporation presented their proposals and their plans for technology upgrading to improve their productivity, efficiency and quality of product and services. The RTEC also convened to identify the project risks, action plans, necessary recommendations, which was followed by a visit at the proposed project sites for further assessment of other factors inherent to the said locations.
The MSMEs are thankful for the opportunity given by the government through DOST-SETUP which enabled them to acquire upgraded equipment essential for the improvement of their business operations. In the long run, the entrepreneurs aspire to gain more income and to provide continuous employment to the communities of Davao del Norte.
