DOST XI Homegrown Talents Shine during

 Science Art Contest, Bags 13 Awards

Winning artworks from Region XI during DOST’s 64th anniversary

 In celebration of 64 years of service, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) showcased homegrown talents through a hybrid online and in-person event at the PSHS Gymnasium, Diliman, Quezon City, where DOST Region XI garnered 13 awards last June 09, 2022. 

 Centered on the theme “Pagdiriwang at Pasasalamat,” the festive event featured the country’s rich tradition and culture while showcasing the creativity of DOST personnel across the nation through Kontemporanyo: Cultural Presentations and Science-Art Contest.  

 The week-long event commenced with the Science Art Exhibits Opening on June 6, 2022 at the DOST Plaza in Taguig, followed by the online selling of eligible entries in the Science Art Contest on June 8, and the Awarding Ceremony on June 9. 

 The Science Art Competition featured different art expressions ranging from digital art, watercolor, acrylic and oil painting, coffee artwork, and photography. In the Kontemporanyo: Cultural Presentation competition, the participants were tasked to highlight their creativity and talent through the Chorale, Band, Cultural Dance, Tiktok and Weave Got Styled competitions, where they will perform a choreographed dances with their festive attires.

 DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña also showcased his talent through the Beatle’s song, “When I’m Sixty-Four” highlighting how the number holds a significant memory to him. 

 In his keynote speech, Sec. de la Peña enumerated the accomplishments of DOST in the past years and encouraged the DOST personnel to attend the “Gabi ng Parangal at Pasasalamat” to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of Science and Technology to the community with the help of partner agencies. 

 During the Awarding Ceremony, Region XI personnel bagged ten (10) awards in the Science Art Competition and three (3) awards in the Kontemporanyo: Cultural Presentations, two of which are shared with the Mindanao- Regional Office Cluster.

 The program concluded with Dir. Richard P. Burgos, the Vice-Chairperson of the Cultural Presentation Committee, expressing his gratitude to the participating offices for making the entire celebration a success. 

 “Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat and see you at the 65th anniversary celebration of DOST,” he added.
