DOST XI employee receives his second booster shot against COVID-19

The Department of Science and Technology Region XI intensified its efforts to highlight the importance of getting vaccinated with booster shots through an in-house vaccination drive for its employees and their dependents last August 18, 2022.

The vaccination drive is also in support of the Department of Health's (DOH) "PinasLakas" campaign efforts which aim to fortify the people's wall of immunity through COVID-19 booster-focused efforts.

In coordination with the Davao City Health Office and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mobile Vaccination Teams, sixty DOST XI employees and dependents received their secondary dose, primary and secondary booster shots.

Through the event, the Agency hopes to boost the city's capacity to manage and mitigate the adverse effects of the pandemic, especially in a possible surge of cases with the opening of schools this August and increased mobility due to various economic activities.

Last July 18, DOH XI reported that over three million individuals in the Davao Region are fully vaccinated (primary series 1st and 2nd dose), but only 513,312 have received their first booster shot. To combat this, DOH, in a press release, urged residents to avail of the booster shots administered by various stakeholders as additional protection against the threat of new variants.

Recently, Philippine President Bongbong Marcos Jr. received his booster shot and urged the Filipinos to do the same because it is safe, effective, and needed, especially in our aspiration to bring everything back to normal.
