DAVAO ORIENTAL – Three rural health units (RHUs) in Davao Oriental received RxBox telehealth devices from the Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) last December 22, 2021. The RHUs in Tarragona, Manay, and San Isidro in Davao Oriental received one RxBox device, one CPU, and one router from DOST XI and computer peripherals from the Department of Health XI (DOH XI).

Following the onslaught of Typhoon “Odette”, the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies in Region XI (ARENA XI) commenced relief efforts by providing material support to help the families and communities affected by the said typhoon which devastated several areas in Visayas and Mindanao affecting over seven million people which resulted to 11.1 billion pesos damages in agricultural crops and farmland and another 17.5 billion pesos damages to homes, roads, and infrastructures, according to the latest government data.

Employees from different National Government Agencies (NGAs) joined hands in sending out their support to families affected by Typhoon Odette through the ARENA XI donation drive on December 28, 2021. The collected donations included water, water gallons, rice, canned food, hygiene kits, clothes, and materials for temporary shelter.


The Regional Health Research and Development Consortium XI (RHRDC XI) announced that its call for Health Research and Development (R&D) proposals for CY 2022 is now open.

Over one million pesos in funding support from the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) will be granted to researchers and faculty members of RHRDC XI member institutions who would like to collaborate and develop scientific or technical solutions to strengthen health R&D amidst the ongoing public health challenges in the country.

For the past 12 years, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) XI in partnership with Hydrology for Environment, Life and Policy (HELP) Davao Network has made holidays merrier for the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community in Sitio Upian, Marilog District.

Dubbed as “Pasko sa Tribu”, DOST XI spearheaded by Regional Director Dr. Anthony C. Sales, CESO III, conducted an annual community outreach program and distributed food and basic hygiene kits to 200 families on December 28, 2021. During the activity, the group also facilitated games and entertainment for the children ages 4-10 years old, teenagers, and parents.

To showcase the best and most creative innovation and inventions, the Department of Science and Technology-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) with the DOST Region XI awarded the Dabawenyo inventors, researchers, and innovators in the recently concluded Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) on November 16-18, 2021 via Facebook Live.

RICE is a biennial nationwide activity, organized by the DOST-TAPI along with the DOST Regional Offices, conducted in different regions to recognize the indispensability of the Filipino inventors to the Philippine society and national economic development.
