DAVAO DEL NORTE – To address food wastage, rejects, and oversupply of bananas, the Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao del Norte (PSTC-DN) of the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform Davao del Norte (DAR-DN) conducted a technology training on Banana Processing last October 13, 2021 at Brgy. Tibungol, Panabo City, Davao del Norte.

The training was intended for the officials and members of Checkered Farms Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CFARBEMCO).

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected our ways of doing things and almost everything went online. The digital platform has become highly relevant for many sectors, from teaching, learning, working, training, and even starting and doing business.

To raise awareness and help netizens on the appropriate use of the tools, resources, and online platforms in the New Normal, the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) will be launching the Digital Tayo webinar series as part of the post-Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) virtual celebration in Davao Region.

DOST XI ASSISTS 2 DAVAO DE ORO FOOD PROCESSORS COMPLY WITH GMP

DAVAO DE ORO- To help an academic institution and local food processing cooperative comply with the standards of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao de Oro (PSTC-DdO), in partnership with Davao de Oro State College (DdOSC), provided the GMP and Plant Lay-out Assessment   last November 5, 2021.

Visited first was Camarin Manlobong Taytayan Onion Farmers Association or CAMATOFA in Brgy. Andap, New Bataan, Davao de Oro. It is a small association formerly created by Onion Farmers and is now venturing to Cacao Processing. Second to be visited was the Monkayo College of Arts Sciences and Technology (MonCAST), a local college operated by the Local Government Unit of Monkayo, Davao de Oro.

Pursuant to their vision of “transforming concepts into products", the Food Processing Innovation Center (FPIC) – Davao, one of the banner projects of the Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI), will hold the grand launching of its innovative food product called Bukolyte on November 24, 2021 at SM City Davao, Ecoland.

Officials from DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), FPIC-Davao stakeholders, and sports enthusiasts will also join the official Bukolyte grand launching.

Prior the grand launch, the public may avail free taste testing, product demonstration and selling during the soft opening set on November 21-23 in the same venue.

DAVAO OCCIDENTAL – The Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao Occidental (PSTC Davao Occidental) in collaboration with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) hosted the “AKAP: AKsyon Ayon sa Panahon” Awareness Webinar on October 22, 2021 via Zoom platform.

With the goal of being ready for any disaster (“Maging handa para sa anumang kalamidad), the webinar promoted awareness on weather and climate change and disaster preparedness.
