Food Safety Advocates Convene for 1st OURFood Conference on Food Safety in Cebu
The OURFood Program of AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation organized its very first Conference on Food Safety: Promoting Food Safety from Farm to Fork last June 16-18, 2016 at the Marriott Hotel Cebu inviting producers, suppliers, processors, service providers, policy-makers from different government organizations and other stakeholders in the supply chain. The essence of the conference is to promote awareness and participation in complying with the different food safety standards for Agriculture, Food Processing and the Food Service industry. The activity was organized in cooperation with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Department of Science and Technology Region VII.
DOST-FPIC gets new equipment from DTI
To continue to provide innovative technologies for a sustainable food industry in the region, the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) launched a new set of food processing equipment in the Food Processing Innovation Center (FPIC) on Tuesday, May 31. The equipment were provided by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as part of the their Shared Service Facility (SSF) Project.

CEST Don Marcelino Beneficiaries trained on Veggie-based Bread Making
On its 4th year of implementing the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) in Don Marcelino, the Provincial S&T Center (PSTC) in Davao Occidental conducted a follow-up training for the beneficiaries on Veggie-based Bread Making on April 25-26, 2016 at Don Marcelino National High School, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental. The training supplements to the health and nutrition component of the CEST program being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the province.
