DOST connects with COCOLINK 2017

Participants of COCOLINK 2017 gathered around the DOST Booth to know more about the services and programs offered by the agency.
The 2nd international Coconut Conference with the theme, “Expanding Possibilities. Ensuring Productivity. Sustaining Industries,” was held on November 7 to 8, 2017 at SMX Convention Center Davao, SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.
This event is a convergence of stakeholders of the coconut industry to discuss new technologies, best practices, research findings, market demands and prospects for farmers, suppliers, processors and entrepreneurs.
Senate passes bill institutionalizing 'Balik Scientist' program of DOST

The Senate on Monday, Nov. 27, approved on final reading a bill which seeks to institutionalize benefits and incentives for scientists, engineers, and innovators of Filipino descent residing overseas to encourage them to stay in the country and work for national development.
Senate Bill No. 1533, also known as the Balik Scientist Act, was principally authored and sponsored by Sen. Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV. It was approved on third and final reading with 13 affirmative votes, no negative vote and no abstention.

DOST-developed processing technologies to improve cacao-based products

With the government’s move to revitalize the cocoa industry, the Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) developed globally competitive technologies to enhance locally processed cacao products.

DOST XI Launches New Laboratory for Local Halal Industry

Ms. Alma Lamparas, Science Research Specialist II of DOST XI along with guests, DOST officials and press during the Halal Verification Laboratory tour.
The DOST Davao Region launched the newly established Halal Verification Laboratory situated at the DOST Regional Office last November 24, 2017 as a show of support to the Halal Industry in Mindanao.
