Fourteen (14) out of fifty seven (57) entries from Southern Mindanao won the top prizes during the 2015 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit (RICE 2015) and were awarded by the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. XI on October 3, 2015 during the RICE 2015 award rites at NCCC Mall, Matina, Davao City.

Tugbok, Davao City- Janelle wakes up early for her class at Values School in Matina, Davao City. But today is different from her usual day as she and her classmates are on their way to visit the Health On The Go, a traveling exhibit sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), together with the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology (PFST), and United Laboratory.

The exhibit featuresinteractive health and nutrition learning displays to elementary students, and Janelle could not contain her excitement early in the day as the grade six student rushed inside the exhibit hall. They were greeted by various contraptions and digital displays mimicking science phenomena and practical learning materials that she can easily relate with.


Inventors, developers, professionals and student researchers in Davao Region are invited to participate in the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) 2015 hosted by the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) and the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. XI for aspiring Filipino inventors in Region XI with the theme: “Philippines: A Science Nation Innovating and Inventing for Global Competitiveness” on October 1-3, 2015 at NCCC Mall, Matina, Davao City.


Inviting all students and teachers to learn about science, technology, health and the natural world during the month-long Science on the Go! Exhibit from September 23 to October 23, 2015 at the Mindanao S&T Centrum Bldg., Bago Oshiro, Tugbok, Davao City.
