SalikLakbay Talaingod

The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI)’s Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development (GRIND) Program, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program in the Philippines – Accelerator Lab, successfully conducted the SalikLakbay Solutions Mapping Adventure held in Sitio Mangga, Barangay Dagohoy, Talaingod, Davao del Norte on May 14, 2021. 

“SalikLakbay”, is a combination of the words ‘Saliksik’ (to explore/ research) and ‘Lakbay’ (to journey/go in an adventure). It aims to identify grassroots innovations and solutions and assess the needs and opportunities in the community where DOST can provide science and technology interventions to address certain problems.

RxBox RD

DAVAO CITY – The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) thru its Davao City Science and Technology Center - DOST XI (CSTC) conducted a Training and Deployment of RxBox device at Paquibato District Hospital in Davao City on May 7, 2021.

RxBox is a telehealth device that is capable of measuring a patient’s temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, uterine contractions, and electrocardiogram readings remotely. It was developed by Filipino researchers from the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila and UP Diliman.

2 MOU Signing Paquibato

DAVAO CITY – The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI), through the Davao City Science and Technology Center (CSTC), is set to provide Science and Technology (S&T) assistance to two Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) in Paquibato District to help alleviate poverty.

Davao CSTC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 7, 2021 with the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Barangay Paquibato Proper and Barangay Lumiad , and the 27th Infantry Action Battalion, 10th Infantry Agila Division, Philippine Army  for the implementation of the Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) Project in the two areas.

Occi MOA Signing with DepED

DAVAO OCCIDENTAL – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region XI, through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao Occidental, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education (DepEd) - Davao Occidental Division for the S&T interventions to be implemented under its Project, Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST).

PL Training Talaingod

DAVAO DEL NORTE - Ata-Manobo traditional corn-coffee is set to be introduced to the mainstream market in Davao Region.  As a springboard, twenty-four (24) individuals mostly members of the Dagohoy Ata-Manobo Kabatan-onan Organization (DAMKO) were trained on the basics of Product Packaging and Labeling at Bagsakan Center, Purok 4 Sitio Mangga, Barangay Dagohoy, Talaingod last April 30, 2021.

Lectures were reinforced with a simulation-workshop on developing a sample product packaging and label for raw eggs. Participants acknowledged its significance in maintaining the goods quality and in gaining competitive market advantage. “Packaging of the product is the silent seller because its presentation on the shelf creates a Buy Me psyche to the consumers”, DOST XI’s Technology Innovation and Packaging Innovation head, Mr. Arnel M. Rodriguez emphasized.
