MOA Signing DavOr

DAVAO ORIENTAL – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region XI, thru its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao Oriental, entered into a partnership with the Municipal Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tarragona for the implementation of the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Project.

Mayor Nestor L. Uy of LGU Tarragona and Provincial Science and Technology Center-Davao Oriental Director, Ms. Sharon M. Alegado led the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement held on April 27, 2021 at the Municipal Building of Tarragona, Davao Oriental.

Mindanao sustainability requires the collective and united efforts of all stakeholders, staying true to the aspiration and vision: “A Land for all, today and tomorrow”, regardless of cultural and socioeconomic background, where no one is deprived.  To attain this, knowledge and responsible governance will be imperative.

With this, the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), together with the DOST Mindanao Regional Offices (IX, X, XI, XII, CARAGA, and BARMM), held the two-day virtual Mindanao Regional Future Earth Philippines Community Mobilization Workshop on April 26 and 28, 2020.

Coconut farmers

The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) is committed to provide Science and Technology (S&T) interventions to coconut farmers and processors to help boost the coconut industry in Davao Region.

During a meeting with the farmers on April 28, 2021, DOST XI Regional Director Dr. Anthony C. Sales, CESO III said DOST will be assisting them by providing appropriate technologies to level up their processed products for their livelihood and economic activities.

Halal Training for the Food Industry

The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) held a two-day virtual Training on Halal for the Food Industry on April 20-21, 2021.

A total of 119 participants, mostly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the different areas in Davao Region, participated in the said event.

ReSET

In a bid to further promote science and technology in the field of renewable energy development in Mindanao, the Department of Science and Technology Region XI in partnership with Yamog Renewable Energy Development Group, Inc. will launch the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Technologies (ReSET) Center in Davao City this May 28, 2021.

The ReSET Center is a public-private research partnership on small-scale renewable energy systems for sustainable rural development. This will serve as a physical hub for technical support, training and research. It seeks to provide a venue wherein basic and advanced technical knowledge on design and fabrication, installation, replication, operation, maintenance, repair and system trouble shooting are done and shared.
