DAVAO DEL SUR – With its commitment to assist marginalized communities by providing various S&T interventions, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) thru the Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao del Sur (PSTC Davao del Sur) provided a computer printer and ten (1) ceramic filters to Balasinon Bangus Deboning Association and Balasinon Oyster Farmers Association in Sulop, Davao del Sur last August 27, 2021.


Mr. John Paul Pacyao is a proud alumna of the lone Higher Education Institute (HEI) in Davao Occidental, the Southern Philippines Agri-business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST). Mr. Pacyao took a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Major in Fish Processing and further pursued his Master of Science in Aquaculture in the same HEI.

According to Mr. Pacyao, SPAMAST provided him an opportunity to learn, grow, and mature professionally in the areas of research and extension. SPAMAST promotes research particularly in Aquaculture, Marine Biodiversity, and Agriculture. Furthermore, SPAMAST expands its scope in the areas of agriculture and fisheries as they encourage different researchers to engage in R&D works in these fields. Their engagements in the upland and lowland communities of the Province of Davao Occidental uplift the hearts and minds of the people contributing to their research undertakings.


In support of women-led entrepreneurs, the GREAT Women Project 2 (GWP 2) of the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) in partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women and Government of Canada conducted the Seminar on Appropriate Use of Food Additives, Coloring, and Preservatives last August 13, 2021.

A total of 24 enrolled women micro entrepreneurs (WMEs) from Davao Region attended the activity via online platform and face-to-face set-up.

DAVAO DEL NORTE – Different sectors of society have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, most especially Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) who face socio-economic challenges and experience inaccessibility to basic social services.  In this trying time, we must help keep our economy stable by supporting businesses and small and micro enterprises especially those that belong to PWDs.

As part of its mandate to provide scientific, technological, and innovative solutions through the comprehensive programs of assistance that will have social benefits for the people, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST Region XI) through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao del Norte (PSTC DN) conducted a training on candle making on August 17, 2021 in Barangay Poblacion, New Corella.


DAVAO DEL NORTE – “Ang yutang balaan, atung panalipdan” (Protect our sacred land), this was the statement by the participants during the discussion of Forester Reil Delosa on Watershed Management. The community considers their domain as sacred ground and since Talaingod is known to be a part of the Pantaron Range, they believe that there is a need for its conservation and protection. Pantaron Range is considered the last biodiversity frontier of Mindanao.

To raise awareness about the importance of conserving and protecting the environment, the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao del Norte (PSTC DN) in collaboration with Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Davao del Norte (PENRO DDN) and Local Government Unit (LGU) conducted  the Seminar Series on Environmental Protection and Conservation for Indigenous People (IP) Community in Talaingod on August 20, 2021.
