Entrepreneurs in Davao del Norte Aspire for Technology Upgrading through SETUP
DAVAO DEL NORTE – Project proposals from three (3) micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Tagum City, New Corella, and Carmen, Davao del Norte were evaluated last June 25 and 28, 2021 by the Provincial Science and Technology Center – Davao del Norte (PSTCDN) together with members of the Review and Technical Evaluation Committee (RTEC). The said evaluation was done to assess the viability of the enterprise for funding under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).
DOST XI holds SETUP Information Drive
The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) conducted a virtual information drive on June 25, 2021 to further promote and inform the public of the agency’s flagship program for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program or SETUP is a nationwide strategy encouraging and assisting MSMEs to adopt technological innovations that will improve their products, services, and operations while increasing their productivity and competitiveness.
ARENA XI rolls out 2nd week vaccination drive for government employees
The Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies in Region XI (ARENA XI) continued its COVID 19 vaccination drive to A4 (essential front-liners) priority group as it resumed its second week of vaccination rollout for government employees last July 7-9, 2021, in the University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP Mindanao), University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP)-Obrero Campus, and Police Regional Office XI in Camp Catitipan vaccination sites.
With a week-long target of 3,000 government employees, 1200 doses were administered in USEP-Obrero campus, 800 doses were allocated in UP Mindanao, and 1000 doses were divided among PNP personnel and other ARENA XI members in the PNP Camp Catitipan site.
DOST XI partners with local innovator for medical waste disposal during COVID 19 vaccination drive
As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, the national and local government have been doubling its effort in promoting mass vaccination to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19. During the vaccination rollouts, tons of COVID-related waste are collected, and thousands of syringes and needles are thrown away after.
To address this problem on medical waste management and disposal, the Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) partnered with Bluelander Environmental Services during the vaccination drive for government employees in Davao City led by the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies in Region XI (ARENA XI) which commenced last June 30, 2021. It is a private company in Davao City that provides affordable and environment-friendly services in medical waste management and treatment to meet the needs of hospitals and clinics.
Dabawenyo start-up to represent PH in International Competition
A group composed of students from the University of Mindanao (UM) – Davao City Campus will be the sole startup group to represent the Philippines in the Hult Prize 2021 on August 8 to September 12, 2021, at Ashridge Castle, London, United Kingdom.
The Alipugpug Tech Solution is a technology-based startup that aims to provide solutions on agricultural services. It is composed of seven students from UM namely: Elpedio Corbeta Jr., John Kaiser Taylaran, Daniel Navarro, Jeremiah Malalis, Kim Aliya Tomaro, Steph Kier Ponteras, and Dale Viñalon. The team offers healthy market ecosystem through digital platforms and solutions that will help small-scale farmers gain competitive advantage in the market.
